Lego Star Wars #75085 Hailfire Droid

The Hailfire Droid is one that Boy Child has wanted for a long time. He saw it on the box for another Lego set and has been asking for it ever since. He was very excited when I surprised him with this set. It is designed for ages 7 and up and I would have to agree. He is 7 years old and was able to complete almost all of this set by himself. He needed a little help lining up one piece. It turned out that he had something backward and once we made the change he could do the rest.

Hailfire droids made their Star Wars debut in Attack of the Clones on the desert planet Geonosis. The shades of brown will blend in with other sets based on the Geonosis battle. The wheels on the droid freely spin so you really can wheel this one around. The wheels can be adjusted to be vertical or angled. When the wheels are straight up and down, the droid balances and rolls well. When they are tilted out as shown in the movies, the wheels can still spin, however, the balance is off and the back of the droid falls to the ground. The missile racks above the droid’s body each contain 2 spring loaded missiles. These missile racks are not adjustable. In addition to the missiles, the droid has a double barrel blaster in front.

In addition to the hailfire droid, the set comes with 2 super battle droids.

And it comes with a Clone Trooper Lieutenant member of Captain Rex’s 501st legion.

My only other criticism is that the real hailfire droids had far more than eight missiles which would have been harder to design but greatly improved the kit overall.
