I was at Michael’s craft store the other day and saw the Star Wars section was on clearance – 80% off! I picked up a couple of things for Boy Child. The first thing we have checked out is this cardboard model Tie fighter. It is for ages 3+ so I figured it would be fine for a 6-year-old. It comes with 3 sheets of cardboard pieces, a sticker sheet, 3 markers, and instructions. It is tab and slot design and no glue is required.
I would say it took about 15 minutes to put the whole thing together. All of the pieces pushed out of the sheets easily and Boy Child was able to do them on his own with no broken edges. Some of the tabs and slots were tight and I had to help him get them started then he finished pushing them all the way together. The finished model is big. It is 12 inches high by 9 inches wide by 10 inches deep. And it looks cool hanging from the ceiling in his room!
This is a nice looking model and it is well put together. I have no fear of this falling apart while hanging. It is cardboard, so it would not stand up to much play without bending or breaking. It was designed as a display model, not as a toy.
I liked it enough to buy a second one as a birthday gift for his friend.
I also bought the X-wing fighter model, but that is for another day.
