Washi tape birthday card

I decided to play with washi tape. I have never used it before, and I have seen it used by others to great effect. Between ideas I saw on Pinterest and a nice sale on washi tape at Michael’s craft store, I stocked up and got busy creating a birthday card for my niece. I really like how this turned out. I started with a white cardstock card. Then I placed a colored piece of cardstock cut 1/4 inch smaller on each side than the card base. Then I cut another piece of cardstock 1/4 inch smaller on each side than the colored piece. before attaching the last piece, I placed the tape on it on the diagonal. I trimmed the tape to the edges of the piece rather than wrapping it around, so it would not be too heavy or thick. Finally, I added the banner, which consists of a piece of white paper layered on colored cardstock. I print out most of my lettering rather than stamping it. I don’t have a large stamp collection but I do have many fonts on the computer. I finished it off by glueing on three gems for bling.
